Canadian Woman in ICE Custody After Alleged Assault on Pro-Trump Teen

Kaitlyn Tracey, a 33-year-old Canadian national, is currently held in ICE custody after being charged with assault following an incident on the Jersey Shore over the Fourth of July weekend. Court documents allege that on July 3, Tracey approached a group of minors on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk, becoming agitated by their “patriotic-colored” sweatpants bearing the words “Trump” and “ICE.” Surveillance video reportedly shows Tracey slapping one of the teenagers before fleeing the scene. She was identified by police and arrested on July 13, facing charges including simple assault, harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged victim reportedly sustained no injuries.

Tracey was transferred to the Delaney Hall immigration detention center in Newark after ICE issued a detainer, citing that she overstayed her visa upon entering the U.S. in 2024. Her husband, Matthew Geroni, has publicly dismissed the incident as a “nothingburger,” blaming conservative online activists for her detention while omitting details of the alleged assault. Geroni, who has a history of posting anti-Trump content, initially sought funds for legal defense but removed a GoFundMe page after backlash. Tracey is scheduled to appear in court on August 4.
