Rising Boxing Star Hannah Rapp Killed in Texas After Driver Reverses into Her Bicycle

Hannah Rapp, a 26-year-old rising professional boxer, was killed on Saturday morning in Brazos County, Texas, after a motorist struck her while she was riding a bicycle. Investigators determined that 31-year-old Charles Medina passed Rapp and another cyclist on FM 159, stopped his vehicle, and deliberately reversed into Rapp. Medina was arrested at the scene and charged with manslaughter, which he faces while held at the Brazos County Detention Center. Authorities described the incident as isolated, though jail records indicate Medina has prior arrests for offenses including assault and reckless driving.

Rapp was an established figure in the boxing community, having recently challenged Tiara Brown for the World Boxing Council women’s featherweight title in June. Though she lost the bout via unanimous decision, tributes poured in from Brown, WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, and fans, who remembered her as a talented fighter and inspiration. Rapp, a native of Indiana, had balanced her boxing career with a job as a fire and life safety inspector at Texas A&M University. Her death has prompted an active investigation by the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.
